Lifeguard Certification

American Red Cross Lifeguard Training makes learning fun and easy. Through classroom learning, online learning, and hands-on practice, participants will learn surveillance skills to help recognize and prevent injuries. Participants will master skills such as: in water and on land rescue techniques, first aid training, professional rescuer CPR and professional communication skills on how to interact with patrons during the event of an emergency and/or behavioral issues. All participants must reach the age of 15 no later than the last day of class, pass the pre-requisites, attend every session of class and pass the final exams. Pre-requisite skills will be tested at the beginning of the class. Those who cannot pass the pre-requisites will not be allowed to take the class.  All online portions of the class must be completed before the first day of class.

Pre-requisites are:

  • Swim 300 yards without stopping (breaststroke and front crawl)
  • Retrieve a 10lb. brick from the deep end of the pool.
  • Tread water for 2 minutes without the use of hands.
