Sherman Parks and Recreation is excited to join the Red River Volleyball League this Fall!
Playing with other local youth groups, Sherman teams will have a chance to compete this fall against teams from Grayson and surrounding counties. Teams will be from: Bonham, Whitewright, Howe, Leonard, Trenton, Wolfe City, Blue Ridge, Tom Bean, Van Alstyne, S&S, and Pottsboro.
Registration for the Fall League will close on 7/10. We will have a Coaches’ Draft/Meeting on/around 7/15 for team selection and practice selection (by the coaches.)
Registration thru Sherman Parks and Recreation will include: a team jersey, team placement, team practices (includes volleyballs, court space and volleyball net), and league entry.
Additional items will be needed for participation and must be purchased separately: knee pads, shoes (tennis/volleyball), volleyball shorts, additional practice equipment.
Practices for the league will take place at the Taylor St Gym on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and/or Saturdays starting the week of 7/24. Teams will receive two 90 min practices each week for the first 3 weeks (7/24-8/12). Teams will drop to only one 90 min practice per week once games start (around 8/19). These practices will be held Wednesday, Thursday or Friday.
Games will take place at any of the 12 cities involved in the league from week to week. Sherman will have some dates that will host games as well. All teams will be expected to travel to surrounding towns to play on Saturdays. Games will be played on Saturdays starting in Mid to Late August. The league will include an end of season tournament and an All Stars Tournament/event in October.
All visitors will be required to pay an entry fee each week to attend the games at the host site. The fees will likely be: $3 for Adults, $2 for Children, and $1 for Seniors.

This league’s success is dependent on the volunteer coaches. The Sherman Parks & Recreation team offers the tools and resources to help you coach your team to success. To be a volunteer coach you can sign up when you register your child or you can call the Sherman Parks & Recreation Office. A mandatory background check will be done.
